For APC applications which are becoming more popular in the latest fiber optics infrastructures, also for multimode, polarity change does not make any sense for correct connectors mating due to 8 degrees angle of the mated ferrules. Moreover, the polarity change feature when available allows to make an error in interconnections. However, the gender change feature could still add some advantages for flexibility of the network infrastructure.
Fiberlab now can produce assemblies with the new US Conec MTP® PRO X connectors which have gender change feature but does not allow to change the polarity. The assemblies are most cost effective compared to the MTP® PRO version and help to avoid problems with incorrect mating.
